Autotest originally opened its door in January 1990, offering MOT’s and Basic Car servicing, since then we have expanded and developed our skills. We still carry out MOT’s however we have a larger range of Servicing available, including Dealer Servicing options and offer extensive repairs including Diagnostics, Clutches, Brakes and Air Conditioning, to mention just a few.
The company was originally founded by father and son team, Ron and Steve Hardie-East. When Ron retired in 2002, Steve continued to develop the business and is still an integral part of the day to day running of the company.
Many staff members have stayed with Autotest for long periods, such as Shelley, who is celebrating 24 years with the company this year and Pete (Workshop Foreman), who started with Autotest in 1997, aged only 16.
Autotest have always focused their business towards customer satisfaction and are happy to help wherever possible, nothing is too much trouble for the team here. We strive to go the extra mile with all our customers and as a result of this dedication, our customers have rated us 4.4 out of 5 on Google.
Over the years, cars have changed and become a lot more sophisticated and complex, Autotest continues to keep pace with these changes, ensuring we have the latest diagnostic technology to find the cause of problems with your car and fix them as quickly and economically as possible.
In 2006, Autotest joined the BOSCH Car Service group and successfully completed the Quality Control Programme and auditing processes – ensuring a high standard of training, equipment, and business practice.
As our skills expanded, so did the need for more equipment and space, so in 2012 we got our workshop totally refurbished which gave us more space to upgrade and stock up on the latest equipment and tools. We also installed new ramps and a state of the art MOT bay. As a local garage we like to be recognised as fair and trustworthy, so when Good Garage scheme came about and started making a name for themselves, we joined the scheme and passed their assessments with flying colours.
Autotest has based its business on the beliefs that your car deserves the best care possible — after all, you need it to get you to work, to get to the shops and to transport you and your family while keeping you all as safe as possible, because of this we work to be better — better than our competitors, better than main dealers and better than you expect.
